Online Desk: A court in Rajshahi city on Thursday placed Rajshahi district BNP leader Abu Sayeed Chand on a five-day remand for questioning in a case filed for threatening Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Earlier, police arrested Rajshahi district BNP convener Abu Sayeed Chand from the city’s Bheripara intersection around 11:00am while he was leaving by a micro bus. He has been shown arrested in a case related to Anti-terrorism Act. Then he was taken to Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) office.

Later in the early afternoon, RMP Commissioner Anisur Rahman said at a press conference that four cases were filed against Abu Sayeed Chand with metropolitan police station. Two to three more cases were filed outside the metropolitan city. “We had information that Abu Sayeed Chand was inside Rajshahi city and he would go into hiding soon. Then he was arrested conducting a drive,” the RMP Commissioner said.

On Friday (May 19), the BNP leader said at a rally on Shibchar High School playground in Rajshahi’s Puthia upazila that there will be no 27 points or 10 points. The only demand is to send Sheikh Hasina to the grave. This video later enraged the public’s sentiment. Then four cases were filed with RMP police station against Abu Sayeed Chand, 66.
