Online Desk: A court in Rajshahi city on Tuesday placed Rajshahi district BNP leader Abu Sayeed Chand on a three-day fresh remand in a case filed for threatening Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Judge Mahbub Alam of Rajshahi Judicial Magistrate Court-4 passed the remand order after Chand was produced before the court today ending his five-day remand.

Rajshahi district police’s court inspector Porimal Kumar confirmed it. He said Chand was produced before the court today after ending his previous remand period. Police sought 10-day fresh remand. But the court accepted three-day remand for questioning.

Earlier on May 25, police arrested Rajshahi district BNP convener Abu Sayeed Chand from the city’s Bheripara intersection around 11:00am while he was leaving by a micro bus. He has been shown arrested in a case related to Anti-terrorism Act. Then he was taken to Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) office. Four cases were filed against Abu Sayeed Chand with metropolitan police station. Two to three more cases were filed outside the metropolitan city.

On Friday (May 19), the BNP leader said at a rally on Shibchar High School playground in Rajshahi’s Puthia upazila that there will be no 27 points or 10 points. The only demand is to send Sheikh Hasina to the grave. This video later enraged the public’s sentiment.

Then several cases–four with RMP– have been filed against Abu Sayeed Chand, 66. And after that, police drives were on to arrest the BNP leader.
