Online Desk: The Cabinet Committee on Law and Order has proposed to the cabinet to extend the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha holidays by one day beginning on June 27, instead of June 28. Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order and Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huque stated it while talking to journalists after a meeting on Tuesday afternoon. The meeting was attended by several ministers, state ministers, senior officials of different law enforcing agencies.
If the cabinet approves the proposal, the Eid-ul-Azha holidays will be from June 27 to June 30. The following day of the holidays is July 1 (Saturday) which will also be a weekly holiday. So, if the proposal of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order is accepted, the Eid holidays will be five days. In the last Eid-ul-Fitr, the government raised Eid holidays by one day.
The Liberation War Affairs Minister said strict orders have been issued to ensure no sacrificial cattle markets were set up on roads ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha. He said it was not a decision, rather they just made a proposal to the cabinet. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan was also present at the meeting
