The Daily Morning Voice Online Desk: Two Bangladeshi youths were shot dead allegedly by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Barakhata Dolapara border in Lalmonirhat’s Hatibandha upazila early today. The youths were identified as Monglu Mia of Barakhata Dolapara village and Sadik Hossain of Fakirpara village in Hatibandha upazila.
Confirming the incident, Commander Abdul Jalil of BGB-61, Barakhata camp said a patrolling team of BSF Battalion-157 of Madhusudon camp in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar district, opened fire on a group of Bangladeshi people. The two were shot and died later, our Lalmonirhat correspondent reports quoting the commander. A protest letter was sent to BSF after the incident, Commander Abdul Jalil said.
Contacted, member of Barakhata union parishad Hafizul Islam said a patrolling team of BSF opened fire around 12:30am when 18 to 20 Bangladeshi people crossed the border to bring cattle from India. The two succumbed to their injuries after the other team members brought them back to Bangladesh territory. Their bodies were taken to their respective houses, the UP member said. On information, Border Guard Bangladesh and police went to the houses. Officer-in-Charge of Hatibandha Police Station Shaha Alam said the bodies will be sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
