Online Desk: Bangladesh traders have started importing green chilli from India amid the price hike of this spice in the country. Satata Banijyalay imported one truck of green chilli from India through Hili port on Monday morning. Meanwhile, green chilli was sold at Tk 180 per kg are being sold in Hili market after the import of this vegetable.
Yusuf Ali, deputy assistant of plant quarantine centre of Hili port, said, “The export of green chilli was stopped since August 24 in 2022. The government gave permission to import green chilli on Sunday in the wake of surging prices in the local market.”
He said six importing companies of Hili land port have received permission to import 2,500 metric tonnes of green chillies. The Ministry of Agriculture permitted 30 importing firms to import a total of 11,600 tonnes of green chillies.
