Online Desk: A driver of Fire Service and Civil Defence and a pedestrian died in an accident that took place when a unit of firefighters was on its way to fight a blaze at a garment factory in Fatullah this morning. One of the deceased was identified as Jahangir Hossain, 50, a driver of Hajiganj Fire Station, Obaidul Islam, station officer of the fire station, said.

Hafizur Rahman, a sub-inspector of Narayanganj Sadar Police Station, said a pedestrian was also killed in the accident. The pedestrian could not be identified immediately. The driver lost control of the vehicle and ploughed into pedestrians, a bus and a rickshaw at Narayanganj’s Chashara area around 10:45am, said Anichur Rahman Mollah, officer-in-charge of Narayanganj Sadar Police Station.

The bus that was hit by the fire engine also rammed another vehicle, he said. The fire broke out at Fakir Apparels Ltd in Fatullah around 10:30am. Ten fire fighting units doused the blaze around 11:30am, said Lima Khanam, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence control room.
