Online Desk: After underwhelming performances in the previous three matches, Liton Das finally came through for Surrey Jaguars as the Bangladeshi wicketkeeper-batter smashed his first Global T20 Canada fifty to help his side to a six-wicket win over Brampton Wolves in Brampton on Tuesday.
After electing to field, Surrey Jaguars restricted Brampton Wolves to 128 for nine before Liton’s match-winning 45-ball 59-run knock ensured they get over the line with 11 balls to spare to get their third win this edition. Chasing a modest total, Surrey Jaguars found themselves in a spot of bother, losing three for just 21 in 4.3 overs. Liton then starred in a 99-run fourth-wicket stand with Pakistan’s Iftikhar Ahmed to steady the innings.
Liton started off slowly as he failed to score any run in the first five deliveries. However, the right-handed batter gradually got into the groove, smashing his first boundary in the fifth over and completing his fifty off 40 deliveries. Liton, who was dismissed in the 18th over when a win for Surrey Jaguars looked all but ensured, smashed a total of three boundaries and three maximums. Skipper Iftikhar remained unbeaten on 38 off 41 deliveries.
Earlier, Ammar Khalid, Matthew Forde, and Ayaan Khan took two wickets each in a concerted bowling effort from Surrey Jaguars to restrict Brampton Wolves to a low total.
