Online Desk: A trawler has capsized in the Ichamati river at Lauhajang in Munshiganj with more than 50 people on board after being collided with a bulkhead. Bodies of eight including a child have been recovered.

Our Munshiganj Correspondent reported on Saturday night that the divers of local Fire Service have been conducting the rescue operation. They are trying to find out the missing people in the river.

The accident took place at around 8pm on Saturday while they were returning home from a picnic. Hundreds of relatives and well wishers of the capsized victims rushed to the river bank to find out their nearest and dearest ones. Besides officials of the local administration are supervising the rescue operation.

Ambulances have been kept stand by at the river bank to transport the capsized victims to the nearest hospital and upazila health complex.
