Online Desk: Divers recovered the body of a child around 7:30am on Monday from the branch river of Padma, raising the total death number from a trawler capsized incident in Munshiganj’s Lauhajang to nine.

The deceased was Turan, 8, son of Singapore expatriate Arif Hossain. Turan’s uncle said his another nephew is still missing.

Lauhajang Fire Service and Civil Defence station officer Kayes Ahmed said the body was found floating in the branch river of Padma near Subachani Bazar, two kilometres away from the spot of the accident. BIWTA and Fire Service members are continuing rescue drive for the missing amid rain.

Two more children are still missing,” said Lauhajang upazile nirbahi officer Abdul Awal, adding that the body will be handed over to the family after legal procedure.

Around 8pm on Saturday, the trawler with 46 passengers capsized in Roshkati area under Eider Para union after a collision with a bulkhead. It was going back to Sirajdikhan upazila after a daylong picnic in the Padma Bridge. Thirty-four people were rescued alive.
