Hero Alom sues Tk 50 crore defamation case against Rizvi

Online Desk: Ashraful Hossen Alom, popularly known as Hero Alom, today sued BNP's Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in a defamation case for making derogatory remarks against him. Alom, an independent candidate who was defeated in the Dhaka-17 by-polls held on July 17, filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate. Online Desk: Ashraful Hossen Alom, popularly known as Hero Alom, today sued BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in a defamation case for making derogatory remarks against him.

Alom, an independent candidate who was defeated in the Dhaka-17 by-polls held on July 17, filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate. During the hearing, Alom told the court that had Rizvi apologised, he would have “forgiven” him.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Saiful Islam recorded Alom’s statement and directed the Detective Branch of police to submit their investigation report before it by September 13.

In his complaint, Alom said he found a news item on YouTube on August 5 where Rizvi made objectionable and derogatory remarks about him. Rizvi’s remarks tarnished his image in the monetary amount of Tk 50 crore, he said in the complaint.
