Online Desk: A total of 16 dengue patients died and 2,608 were hospitalized across the country during the last 24 hours till Sunday morning. According to the Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS) with these latest figures, the death toll has now surged to 634, and the total number of cases stands at 1,30,302 this year.
Of the new cases, 892 were reported in Dhaka city and 1,716 were from various parts of the country. So far 1,20,823 dengue patients were released from hospitals in the country this year.
A total of 8,845 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals. Of them, 3,928 are in Dhaka while 4,917 are outside of the capital city, it added. According to the DGHS statement, among the total dengue positive cases, 49,495 are female and 80,807 are male. Of the total deaths, 369 are female and 265 males.
On September 2, a total of 21 dengue-related deaths were reported which was the highest number in a single day this year. The authorities have recorded the highest number of dengue positive cases outside Dhaka in August this year meaning the mosquito disease gripped the entire country.
The country recorded 281 dengue deaths in 2022 following 179 casualties in 2019. Additionally, the DGHS recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries last year.
