Online Desk : Ace filmmaker Shyam Benegal’s upcoming directorial venture, “Mujib: The Making of a Nation”, a biographical drama on the towering legend of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, will hit local theatres on October 13. Today, the official trailer of the highly-anticipated “Mujib” biopic was unveiled at a five-star hotel in Dhaka. Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud was present at the event. The movie will be released in India on October 27. Earlier on July 31, the film received an uncensored certificate. Prior to this, a 1-minute and 30-second trailer was released for the 75th Cannes Film Festival.
The latest official trailer shows glimpses of the intense, patriotic story of the birth of Bangladesh. The project is described as an “extraordinary biographical film that brings to life the story of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, affectionately known as Bangabandhu – The Friend of Bengal.” The biopic features Arifin Shuvoo in the role of Bangabandhu, while Nusraat Faria takes on the role of Sheikh Hasina. Nusrat Imrose Tisha portrays the significant role of Bangabandhu’s wife, Sheikh Fazilatunnesa. In addition to them, more than a hundred actors have worked in the film.
“Mujib” is a Bangladesh-India official co-production, made possible under the Audio Visual Co-Production Agreement between the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. It is co-produced by Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) and India’s NFDC. The story and screenplay are by Shama Zaidi and Atul Tiwari.
