The Daily Morning Voice Online Desk: Today’s temperature in Rajshahi was the lowest of the season after the city had already been shivering in a bitter cold wave for the previous week. Rajshahi recorded its lowest temperature of the season at 9.1 degrees Celsius this morning, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department. Earlier on December 29 last year, the lowest temperature was 9.4 degrees Celsius, according to them.
Even during the day, a large portion of the town’s residents are staying indoors, reports our local correspondent. Some farmers in rural areas have used polyethene to cover the seedbeds where they will grow Boro paddy. Patients with cold related diseases have increased at the hospitals, the health officials said, adding that the situation is still under their control. Various government and non-government organisations, as well as private individuals, have started distributing winter clothing, but the demand for blankets outpaces supply.
