Online Desk: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s physical condition is very critical, said 12-Party Alliance leader and Kalyan Party chairman Maj Gen (Retd) Syed Muhammad Ibrahim on Sunday (October 15).
He said any accident can happen anytime in such a situation.
On Sunday, the 12-Party Alliance leaders went to Evercare Hospital at Basundhara to see BNP Chaiperson Khaleda Zia and inquire about her health. After coming out of the hospital, Kalyan Party chairman Syed Muhammad Ibrahim talked to reporters.
He said the 12-Party Alliance leaders couldn’t meet Khaleda Zia as she was sleeping. However, the BNP chief’s medical board member cardiologist Dr Shahabuddin Talukder briefed the 12-Party Alliance leaders about Khaleda Zia’s health.
Quoting Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, Syed Muhammad Ibrahim said Khaleda Zia was shifted to the coronary care unit (CCU) after her physical condituion worsened on Saturday night.
Syed Muhammad Ibrahim said Khaleda Zia has been suffering from multiple diseases. “She requires to be taken abroad for liver transplant right now which is not possible in Bangladesh. If operation is carried out inviting surgeons abroad, it would not be possible to provide her post-management care as it is not available in Bangladesh,” he said.
Quoting the BNP Chairperson, Dr Shahabuddin Talukder said he had never witnessed any stronger-minded patient like Begum Zia throughout his career. She has been fighting for life since she was infected with Covid-19. She also didn’t receive proper treatmentv earlier.
Urging the government to send Khaleda Zia abroad for treatment as soon as possible rising above the vengeance, Maj Gen (Retd) Ibrahim said the government would have to shoulder the responsibility if anything happens to Begum Zia.
The 12-Party Alliance leaders also sought blessings of the countrymen for quick recovery of Khaleda Zia.
At that time, 12-Party Alliance leaders Jatiya Party chairman Mostofa Jamal Haider, Bangladesh Jatiya Dal chairman Syed Ehsanul Huda, Bangladesh LDP secretary general Shahadat Hossain Selim, Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh secretary general Golam Mohiuddin Iqram and NAP Bhasani chairman Azharul Islam, among others, were present.
