Online Desk: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has warned that those who spread false information about Durga Puja will face consequences.
In recent years, the circulation of ‘rumours’ surrounding the biggest annual festival for Hindus has become a problem, particularly in the digital era, according to the minister.
“Our police force has a cyber-unit that is quite active. We can quickly identify those responsible. They will face punishment. Our law enforcement is keeping a close watch,” he said while visiting the Dhakeshwari National Temple for the Durga Puja celebrations on Friday, reports bdnews24.com.
The home minister also pointed out that a small cabal who opposed the formation of Bangladesh are now railing against any positive developments in the country.
“Even Bangabandhu [Sheikh Mujibur Rahman] was assassinated. These miscreants may be few, but they can cause unwanted incidents. Therefore, our law enforcing agencies are always vigilant.”
During his visit, Kamal exchanged greetings with the Hindu community at the temple.
