Newspaper editors urged to mobilise public opinion against terrorism, anarchy

Online Desk: Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud has called upon the editors of national dailies to mobilise public opinion against terrorism and anarchy.

At the same time, he suggested to file cases against the torture and repression on journalists.

Dr Hasan Mahmud, who is also the Awami League Joint General Secretary, made the call while exchanging opinions with the editors of different national dailies at his office at the secretariat in the capital on Wednesday (November 1).

He said ill efforts are going on to create an indiscipline and anarchic situation in the country. “An anarchic sityation was created by BNP in the name of grand rally in Dhaka city on October 28 last and, in fact, attacks were carried out on the state. Attacks on the residence of chief justice, hospital and Judges Complex have never happened before. The attackers on the state were identified, and they were the leaders and workers of BNP-Jamaat. We can’t avoid our responsibility by terming it a mere politics, and it will be a historic mistake.”

The editors condemned attacks on journalists and condemned indulging in terrorism in the name of politics. They also pledged to continue their writings against such terrorist acts.
