Online Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday inaugurated ‘Mrityunjayee Prangan’ constructed at Bijay Smarani in the city, depicting the role of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the freedom struggles of the Bangali nation.
A large sculpture of Bangabandhu has been installed in the middle of the ‘Mrityunjoyee Prangan’ with murals on seven walls constructed on the premises.
The murals featured the history of Bangalis’ liberation struggles from the 1952 Language Movement to the 1971 War of Liberation under the leadership of Bangabandhu.
The sculpture of Bangabandhu called ‘Mrityunjoy’ was earlier exhibited in the Victory Day Parade in 2021 and 2022.
Speaking on the occasion the premier said this sculpture of the father of the nation is merely not a sculpture rather it’s a history. “It’s a history to know our country,” she said.
Focusing on the contribution and sacrifice of Bangabandhu in the freedom struggles of Bangladesh, the PM said his struggle was for the socio-economic emancipation of the Bangali nation. “Bangabandhu sacrificed his entire life for the people of this country,” she said.
She said Bangabandhu was a student of law department of Dhaka University in 1948 when there was an attempt to snatch the rights of mother tongue Bangla. Since then Bangabandhu protested it and started a movement, she added.
Noting that today’s Bangladesh is a different one than what it was 15 years ago, Hasina said Bangladesh has attained the status of a developing nation. “Bangladesh should be taken forward by keeping it (this development momentum) upheld,” she said.
She described today’s children as the soldiers of building a smart Bangladesh in future. “Our children will lead Smart Bangladesh and run Bangladesh.”
Later, the prime minister went round the “Mrityunjayee Prangan”, and later posed for photographs with the students and military and civilian officials present there.
Leadership and contribution of father of the nation in the struggles for freedom of the Bangali nation, starting from the language movement, other movements and War of Liberation has been portrayed on the walls of this premises, constructed by the Bangladesh Army.
