Online Desk: The well-marked low over the central bay and adjoining area moved west-northwesterwards and concentrated into a depression over west central bay and adjoining area, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said on Wednesday (November 15, 2023).
In a special weather bulletin, the Storm Warning Centre of the BMD, said the low was centred at 12 noon on Wednesday (November 15) about 1,025 kilometers west-southwest of Chattogram Port, 965 kilometers west-southwest of Cox’s Bazar Port, 935 kilometers southwest of Mongla Port and 920 kilometers southwest of Payra Port. It is likely to intensify and move northwestwards further.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kilometers of the depression centre is about 40 kilometer per hour and rise to 50 kilometer per hour with gusts/squalls. Sea will remain moderate near the depression centre.
Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist distant cautionary signal No. 1 (one).
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
