Online Desk: Commercial train run on the Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar rail route will begin on December 01.
Initially, the railway authorities decided to run two trains, one from Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar via Chattogram and another from Chattogram to Cox’s Bazar, sources in Bangladesh Railway (BR) said.
Acting General Manager of BR (Eastern Zone) Najmul Islam said, “We are ready to run trains on Cox’s Bazar route from December 1. The first train will start from Dhaka and the second train will run from Cox’s Bazar to Chattogram. Other trains will run as per schedule.”
The intercity train will depart from Kamalapur station at 10:30 pm and will reach Cox’s Bazar next morning (Dec 02) at 6:40 am. The train will stop at Dhaka Airport and Chattogram Railway Station only. Similarly, it will depart Cox’s Bazar next day (Dec 02) at 1 pm and will reach Dhaka at 9:10 pm.
BR sources said this non-stop intercity train consists of 18 coaches with 779 to 824 seats and ticket fare would be fixed at between Tk 771 and Tk 1725.
Besides, the other train will run from Chattogram to Cox’s Bazar at 7 am every day and arrive at 10:20 am. The train has 15 coaches. The train will leave Cox’s Bazar for Chattogram at 7 pm on the same day. Fare of the ticket will be fixed at Tk 205 to 696.
From Dhaka- Cox’s Bazar, the ticket fare for Sobhan chair is Tk 500, AC chair (Snigdha) Tk 961, First class chair Tk 771, First class berth/seat Tk 1150 and AC berth ticket fare is Tk 1,725.
Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar inter-city train ticket fare for decorative chair is Tk 205, first class chair Tk 311, first class berth and AC seat Tk 466, AC chair (snigdha) Tk 386 and AC berth ticket Tk 696.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Chattogram-Dohazari-Cox’s Bazar-Gumdhum (CDCG) rail line on November 11.
