Online Desk: Australia batter Travis Head smashed his fifth ODI ton to power Australia to a six-wicket win over India in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023 in Ahmedabad today.

The left-handed opener smashed 15 fours and four sixes for his 120–ball 137–run knock and built a 192–run stand with Marnus Labushagne to help Australia chase down India’s 241-run target in 43 overs with six wickets in hand.

The marauding win gave Australia their sixth World Cup title, the most by any team.

Labushagne remained watchful as he put away four boundaries in a 110-ball 58–run knock after Australia were reduced to 47 for the loss of three after seven overs.

Head’s second ton of the World Cup saw him become the seventh batter and the third from Australia to score a century in a World Cup final after compatriots Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist achieved the feat.

India’s Jasprit Bumrah picked up two wickets, while Mohammad Shami and Mohammad Siraj scalped one wicket each.
