3 state ministers, 5 dozen MPs didn’t get AL nomination

Online Desk: Ruling Awami League has not given nomination to three state ministers of Sheikh Hasina’s cabinet this time.
They are: State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, State Minister for Labour Begum Monnujan Sufian and State Ministrer for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain. Besides, many members of parliament (MPs) have been excluded from the nomination.
Abdul Hye Akand has been given nomination in KM Khalid’s Mymensingh-5 (Muktagacha) constituency. Abdul Hye is the general secretary of Muktagacha Upazila Awami League in Mymensingh district. He is now the upazila parishad chairman.
Awami League organising secretary SM Kamal Hossain has been given nomination in Begum Monnujan Sufian’s Khulna-3 constituency.
Former Chhatra League leader Biplob Hasan has been given nomination in Zakir Hossain’s constituency of Kurigram-4.
Awami League has announced the party nominated candidates for the 12th national parliamentary election.
AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced the names of the nominated candidates of 298, out of 300 seats, at the party’s central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital on Sunday afternoon.
Apart from the prime minister, there are 25 ministers, 19 state ministers and three deputy ministers in the cabinet. Of the, three are technocrat ministers (not members of parliament).
Voting in the 12th Jatiya Sangsad election will take place on January 7 next. The last date for submission of nomination forms is November 30. The nomination forms will be scrutinised from December 1 to 4, while the last date for withdrawal of candidature is December 17. The election symbols will be allocated on December 18.
