Online Desk: President Mohammed Shahabuddin has sent the ‘Bangladesh Labour (Amendment) Bill-2023’, which was passed in the parliament on November 2, back to the parliament for reconsideration.
According to local news portals, the head of the state did not sign the bill expressing objection to a provision on punishment of workers for unfair practices.
After passage in the parliament, the bill was sent to the president for his assent to turn the bill into a law.
According to a bulletin released by the Parliament Secretariat on November 22 with a message of the president, the president considered that Section 45 of the bill may create confusion.
The bulletin said the president sent the bill back to the parliament as per Article 80(3) of the constitution.
