Online Desk: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) officials detained a female passenger alongwith 8.2 kg gold at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Tuesday night.
According to the Customs Intelligence, detainee Rekha Parveen came from Dubai on a flight of Emirates Airlines around 11pm. The team recovered the gold from Parveen’s white handbag,wrapped with scotch tape.
The market value of the seized gold is around Tk 6.57 crore.
CIID assistant director Farhana Begum confirmed the matter on Wednesday.
They recovered 69 gold bars and a gold chain from the bag.
