Online Desk: Indian high commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma met finance minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali at his secretariat office in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The meeting discussed a range of issues, including development of bilateral relations, trade and commerce, education, culture and the socio-economic development of the country, according to a press release.
Dhaka and New Delhi have recently settled cross-border trade payments through using both taka and rupee with an eye to lessening reliance on US dollar.
Both sides are looking into the process on further expansion of the trade using their own currencies.
Bangladesh is also trying to ensure an annual quota on some selected Indian farm products to meet the growing local demand.
The sky-rocketing prices of essential commodities here have put an acute pressure on the people on low incomes.
