Online Desk: Mercantile Bank PLC has signed a participation agreement with Bangladesh Bank (BB) for a credit guarantee facility at the Jahangir Alam conference hall of the central bank.

Md Quamrul Islam Chowdhury, managing director and CEO of Mercantile Bank, and Nahid Rahman, director of the credit guarantees department of the Bangladesh Bank, inked the deal in the presence of Nurun Nahar, deputy governor of BB, according to a media release.

The credit facility will support women entrepreneurs in small enterprises and the agro-processing industry under a central bank refinance scheme, said the release.

Saiful Islam, executive director of BB, Mohammad Faruque Ahmmed, SVP and head of SME, Mercantile Bank, along with senior officials from both organisations were also present in the ceremony.
