Online Desk: Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus recently shared his insights on fostering entrepreneurship, reversing wealth concentration, and empowering communities through social businesses at the XI Global Baku Forum ‘Fixing the Fractured World’, held in Baku, Azerbaijan from March 14-16.
During his speech, Professor Yunus emphasised the importance of innovative solutions and collaborative efforts to achieve a world of three zeros: zero net carbon emission, zero wealth concentration, and zero unemployment.
The forum, attended by some 400 politicians, leaders, and Nobel laureates, reaffirmed the significance of fostering dialogue, cooperation, and solidarity to address global challenges, said a press release.
Professor Yunus held bilateral meetings with notable figures, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, and Dr Winnie Byanyima, Executive Director of UNAIDS, discussing post-pandemic healthcare priorities and collaborations.
He also engaged in a fireside chat with Kerry Kennedy, Director of RFK Center of Human Rights, discussing his vision of creating a world of three zeros.
Professor Yunus was honoured with “The Tree of Peace” award from UNESCO at the closing dinner of the XI Global Baku Forum, and he had a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Ali Asadov, discussing collaboration opportunities in Azerbaijan universities.
In addition, Professor Yunus inaugurated the Yunus Social Business Centre at Azerbaijan State Economic University, fostering social business education and workshops.
