Online Desk: The movement of all types of bulkheads will be suspended five days before and after Eid-ul-Fitr.
Md Abdul Alim, chief of river police and also an additional inspector general of police, told this at a views exchange meeting on law and order and traffic management on waterways at Police Plaza in the capital on Wednesday on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
The chief of river police said special security measures have been taken from April 3 to 17 to make the river journey of homebound people easier. Even the movement of speedboats will be suspended after sunset during the period.
Alim said river police will be on duty at all ferry terminals and naval terminals to ensure the security and hassle-free journey for holidaymakers.
He also asked passengers to call control room number 01320169598 or the National Emergency Service 999 if they any problem. He assured that the river police will take necessary action immediately.
