Online Desk:  Milton Somaddar, chairman of Child and Old Age Care, used to beat children and elderly people in the torture cell of the organisation by consuming yaba, said Detective Branch chief Harun-Ur-Rashid.

Harun-or-Rashid, also the additional commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said this while talking to reporters at the DB office in Dhaka on Monday, according to local media reports.

In response to a question from journalists, the DB chief said that Milton Somaddar is a drug addict and he consumes Yaba. He himself admitted to consuming yaba.

He said that the level of torture in his torture cell was inhumane. No one can beat children and elderly people this way except a drug addict. The picture of his beating has already gone viral on social media.

He further said, “Milton was making money from different places by deceiving people in the guise of the so-called peddler of humanity and capitalising on the elderly, orphaned children and mentally unbalanced people.”

Although the money was deposited in Milton’s account, he did not spend it on the needy people. He was treating the patients by himself without taking to the hospital, said the DB chief.

Mr Harun said, “I have received information about Milton’s more shocking incident. The investigation is going on, will be informed after the investigation.”

In response to another question, Harun-Ur-Rashid said that appropriate legal action would be taken after investigating all the allegations against him. There is no question of discounting anyone.
