Online Desk : A chairman candidate of Barguna’s Betagi Upazila Parishad election was detained on Monday night for possessing an unlicensed gun. The detained candidate is Nahid Mahmud Litu Shikder. He was the former member of upazila Awami League. According to Betagi Police Station OC Md Mahbubur Rhman, on secret information, a team of law enforcers waylaid Nahid Mahmud near Baily Bridge area around 8:30pm on Monday and recovered a gun full of bullets after searching his private car. Police also detained car driver Md Sajib and seized the private car. Getting information, Betagi upazila executive officer Farruq Ahmed and returning officer Shawpon Shikder went to the scene.

They were, later, taken to the police station. It was learnt that Nahid was going to hold a meeting in Bibichini union. Mentionable, Betagi Upazila Parishad election will be held on May 21.
