Online Desk : Many passengers in the capital thronged the metro rail stations on Wednesday amid the severe disruption in transportation due to quota protesters’ ‘Bangla Blockade’ creating pressure on the service. No vehicles were allowed to ply the roads as students gathered in all major interjections in the capital by blocking the roads, causing severe commuters suffering. Long queues of people were seen at the Uttara North metro rail station to reach their destinations.
Hundreds of people started thronging the station this morning to travel by the metro rail, to get rid of suffering on road due to the blockade programme. Ishtiaqe Nasir, a resident of Uttara, said, he hardly uses the Metro rail. But today, there is no alternative without metro rail to go to Mirpur as most of the roads are blocked by the quota protestors. Mubarak Hossain, a Mouchak-bound passenger recounted his sufferings and said, he comfortably came to Karwan Bazar from Pallabi by metro rail. But, he had to walk from Karwan Bazar to Mouchak as no buses were plying on this route.
