Former minister Farhad Hossain placed on 5-day remand

Online Desk : A Dhaka court has placed Farhad Hossain, former public administration minister and former member of parliament for Meherpur-1, on a five-day remand for interrogation in a case filed over the murder of garment worker Rubel.
Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sanaullah passed the order on Sunday after investigation officer Md Abdul Malek, aslo the sub-inspector of Adabor Police Station, produced before the court with a seven-day remand prayer. Farhad Hossain’s lawyers sought bail and cancellation of the remand. After hearing both sides, the court granted a five-day remand.
The Rapid Action Battalion arrested Farhad Hossain from the Iskaton area of the capital on Saturday. A case was filed against him on August 5 in connection with the shooting and killing of students and the general public during an anti-discrimination student movement.
