Online Desk  :   BNP leader Dr Shahadat Hossain took oath as mayor of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) on Sunday. AF Hasan Arif, adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives and Ministry of Lands, administered the oath at the secretariat’s conference room at 10:30AM. Some BNP leaders were present alongwith top administrative officials in the swearing-in ceremony. After swearing in, the new CCC mayor is scheduled to visit the grave of BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman.

On October 1, Election Tribunal judge as well as Joint District and session judge Mohammad Khairul Amin declared Shahadat as the mayor, canceling Rezaul Karim’s victory. The court also directed the election commission secretary to publish a gazette within next 10 days, which was released on October 8 following the ruling.
