Online Desk  :    Former State Minister for Home Affairs Sohel Taj called former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s comments on Jail Killing Day “hypocrisy.” In a post on his verified Facebook page, Sohel Taj, son of Bangladesh’s first Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmad, stated, “After so many years, she finally speaks—surprising! No one could teach hypocrisy better than her.” The comment came as the nation commemorated the anniversary of the assassination of four national leaders—Tajuddin Ahmad, Syed Nazrul Islam, A.H.M. Qamaruzzaman, and Captain M. Mansur Ali—inside Dhaka Central Jail on November 3, 1975, just months after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was killed.

He has previously raised concerns over Awami League’s reluctance to fully acknowledge the contributions of his father and other leaders in the Liberation War. Later in the day, following a procession to the State Guest House Jamuna, he reiterated to reporters, “The Liberation War was a united effort, not led by a single person. The party that led the war has failed to present history accurately during its time in power.” Sohel Taj stressed that after Sheikh Mujib was imprisoned, the four national leaders played a key role in the Liberation War. “It was not a one-man show; several leaders played crucial roles,” he said, urging for a more inclusive representation of history. Meanwhile, Hasina’s statement was published on Awami League’s official Facebook page, marking the significance of the day in the nation’s history.
