Online Desk : BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman has said that delays in holding elections will only fuel conspiracies. Speaking virtually at the inaugural session of the BNP Chuadanga District Unit Conference 2024, he accused “former dictators” of collaborating with domestic and foreign entities to undermine democratic processes.
The conference, held at the local football ground in Chuadanga on Saturday (Nov 23), was inaugurated by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. This event marked a significant milestone as it was the first district-level conference held in Chuadanga in 25 years. In his address, Tarique Rahman also said that meaningful reforms could only be achieved through elected representatives.
He stated that the BNP also supports reforms but expressed concern that any delays in holding elections for this purpose could create opportunities for conspirators. “The current problems facing the nation can only be resolved through a free and fair election,” he added.
The conference also featured voting to elect a new president and general secretary for the district BNP, alongside the unveiling of a 31-point outline aimed at repairing the state’s structure. A departmental training workshop on public relations was also organized as part of the event.
