Online Desk : Twenty-six Bangladeshi people, who were sentenced to three years in prison for illegal migration to India, returned home.They returned home through the Benapole check post on Tuesday night. Seven women, eight children and eleven men returned home after serving their sentences, said Benapole Port Police Station’s Officer-in-charge (OC) Russel Mia. At 10:30 pm Tuesday, the Petrapole Immigration Police of India handed over the Bangladeshis to the Benapole Immigration Police through a special travel permit issued by the Indian government, the OC said.
Members of the BGB-BSF, customs, police and intelligence agencies of both countries were present at the time. On completion of all the formalities, they were handed over to the Benapole Port Police Station this morning.The returnees are from Thakurgaon, Chapainawabganj, Pirojpur, Gopalganj, Tangail, Kurigram, and Narail districts.
