Toll plaza crash : Bus driver among two detained

Online Desk  :   Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained two persons, including the bus driver, in connection with the accident at the toll plaza of Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Keraniganj on Friday (December 27) that left six people dead. The driver Md Nuruddin was detained by RAB-10 from the Siddhirganj area of Narayanganj on Friday night, according to a statement issued by the RAB’s legal and media wing on Saturday.

No further details were made available. However, RAB will brief the media soon on the matter, said officials. Meanwhile, AKM Aktharuzzaman Bosunia, superintendent of Gazipur highway police, said that Nuruddin and another person were taken into custody on Saturday over the fatal incident. He said that the detainees are being interrogated and it is suspected that the driver might have lost control over the vehicle but detailed could be tell after investigation. They will share it with the media soon, the official said.

No case was filed over the incident until Saturday afternoon, Hashara highway police station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Quader Jilani. Earlier, on December 27, a bus of Bepari Paribahan’ rammed into three other vehicles parked at the toll plaza of Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in South Keraniganj, killing six people, including four of a family. Police had seized the bus after the accident, but the staffers managed to escape.
