Online Desk : The students of seven colleges have withdrawn their protest program after being assured of accepting all their demands. The students made this announcement after a meeting with Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury at the Secretariat on Tuesday. Two students from Dhaka College and one student from Eden Women’s College were present as representatives of seven colleges in the meeting. Giving details of the meeting, Dhaka College student Moinul Islam said, “One of the six demands has been accepted. There was an ultimatum to accept the remaining five demands. The demands have been assured of being accepted. We’re told that these will be accepted gradually after reviewing various processes.” Moinul Islam said, ‘pro-vice chancellor Mamun Sir will not be involved in any further activities of seven colleges. The issue of resignation will be discussed with the DU vice chancellor. The issue of beating and verbal abuse of students will also be discussed. Action will be taken after investigating the attack on Dhaka College student Rakib within three days. It has been informed that Dhaka University has been opened for everyone to enter into it.”
The student of Dhaka College said, “In view of the assurance of accepting the demands in the meeting with the home and information advisors, the programs of seven colleges have been withdrawn. I hold the Deputy vice-chancellor responsible for the entire issue.” At that time, Eden Women’s College student Sadia Afrin Mou said, “Students of seven colleges are getting a new university. I am hopeful that all demands will be accepted.” After the meeting with the students, home advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury told the reporters, “The demands of the students of seven colleges have been discussed. All will be accepted gradually in stages.”
