Online Desk  :  Students of Titumir College have announced plans to blockade the Dhaka North City Corporation area, demanding the college be declared an independent university. The protest, called “Barasat Barricade to North City,” was announced on Friday night (January 31). The students set a deadline of 4:00 pm on Saturday (February 1) for the government to grant university status to Titumir College, or they will go ahead with the blockade.

To press their demands, the students held a protest rally, marching to the Gulshan-1 intersection around 9:30 pm on Friday. The students then blockaded the area, causing a major road to be closed to traffic. Vehicles were seen parked on nearby streets as a result of the disruption. Protesters chanted slogans calling for Titumir College’s declaration as a university. The movement began on Wednesday (January 29) with five students starting an indefinite hunger strike. Protests and roadblocks have also been staged as part of the demonstration.
