Online Desk  :   Five women in Khulna divisional level on Sunday received the Adhomya Naree Puraskar-2024 award for attaining success in different fields by overcoming various difficulties and challenges. The award was given to the women for their feats in five categories in a programme, jointly organised by Khulna District Administration and Department of Women Affairs in association with the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, held at the district Shilpakala Academy Auditorium in the afternoon.

The awardees are Mst. Chompa Begum in economic category from Jashore, Tumpa Saha in education and employment category from the same district, Momtaz Khatun  in successful mother category from Satkhira, Rowshan Ara Khatun in prevention of repression category from Jhenaidah and Dalifa Yasmin in social development from Magura district. Presided over by Khulna Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) M Firoz Shah, Department of Women Affairs Director General Keya Khan addressed the event as the chief guest.

Women’s Affairs Department Director Naima Hossain, KMP Additional Police Commissioner Abu Raihan Mohammad Saleh, Additional Range DIG of Police M Belayet Hossain and Additional Director of the Women’s Affairs Department M Monir Hossain spoke here as special guests. Additional Divisional Commissioner (Development) Abu Sayed M Manjur Alam delivered welcome speech while Judge Sheikh Didarul Alam and Tumma Saha spoke in the programme.

Addressing the programme, Keya Khan said, ”Every woman is indomitable and deserves to be honored. Women cannot be suppressed. Women must be taken forward everywhere. The presence of men must be ensured to see that women reach the position of receiving honors through hard work and struggle. Because women cannot move forward without the inspiration of men. She mentioned that various activities of the Department of Women Affairs have been taken to build a women-friendly society.”
