Online Desk : The National Citizens’ Party (NCP), a new political party formed by the leaders of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, is set to be launched on Friday. The decision was taken at a joint meeting of the Nagorik Committee and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement held at the Nagorik Committee’s central office in the capital in the afternoon. Nahid Islam, a recently resigned adviser of the interim government, has been finalised as the party’s convener with Akhter Hossen as the member secretary. Hasnat Abdullah has been selected as the chief organiser (south), while Sarjis Alam the chief organiser of the North region, and Nasiruddin Patwary as the chief coordinator of the organisation.
Sources said that as there are multiple candidates for the posts of Senior Joint Convener and Senior Joint Member Secretary, the leadership for these positions has not been finalised yet. The official launch of the party will be held tomorrow afternoon at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital. The names of the candidates for the top posts of the party will be announced there.
