Fugitive war criminal held in city

Online Desk: The Anti Terrorism Unit (ATU) of Police on Tuesday night arrested a war criminal of Mymensingh, who was sentenced to life term imprisonment for crimes against humanity during the Liberation War. ATU superintendent (media) Mohammad Aslam Khan said police arrested Md Fakhruzzaman,66, from South Goran area of Dhaka around 10pm on Tuesday. He had been hiding since 2015.
On February 20 this year, the International Crimes Tribunal sentenced five people, including Fakhruzzaman, to life term imprisonment for war crimes in 1971. The convict was handed over to Mymensingh Kotwali Model Police Station.
