Online Desk : The Election Commission has begun the final day’s appeals hearing filed against the returning officers’ decisions in the scrutiny of nomination papers for the upcoming national elections. The EC also announced the name of candidates who will contest the polls with dual citizenship. The hearings started at around 10:15AM on Sunday at the Election Building auditorium (Basement-2) in Agargaon and the proceedings will continue till 5PM.
According to EC officials, 396 candidates have regained eligibility during the eight-day appeal process, while the candidacy of four previously cleared contenders has been cancelled following successful appeals.
Earlier on Saturday, the eighth day’s hearings were held on 112 applications. Of those, 45 appeals were granted—43 against the rejection of nomination papers and two against their acceptance.
