Online Desk: Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan became the first Bangladesh bowler to take 300 ODI wickets when he dismissed England debutant Rehan Ahmed in the third ODI of the three-match series at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Monday.

The 35-year-old was four wickets away from the milestone before the match. He picked up the wickets of both England openers — Jason Roy and Phil Salt — James Vince, and Rehan to enter the 300-club. He returned with figures of four for 35 runs to help his side to a 50-run win to make 2-1 in the three-match series. Shakib became only the third left-arm spinner to have achieved the feat. Before him, Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya and New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori reached the milestone.

The left-handed batter helped his side post 246 by scoring his 53rd ODI fifty as he smashed seven fours for his 71-ball 75. His first scalp in the 50-over format was Zimbabwe’s Elton Chigumbura in 2006. In 2010, the left-arm spinner dismissed Pakistan’s Asad Shafique to take his 100th ODI scalp and sent back South Africa’s Hashim Amla in 2015 in Chattogram to enter the 200-wicket club.
