Online Desk: Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company authorities have said that the explosion at Sidddique Bazar in the city’s Gulistan had no relation with gas leakage. “Our findings from primary investigation indicate that the explosion has no relation with any gas leakage,” said Titas Gas director (Operations) Engr Selim Mia while talking to reporters following the visit of a team of his organisation to the blast site on Wednesday afternoon.

He said the Titas Gas authorities started investigation into the matter immediately after the explosion. “We started our investigation after seeing news on Tuesday. We examined with detectors, but didn’t find the presence of gas. A riser was found, but it was not affected. No evidence of the involvement of gas was found in the explosion.”

Selim Mia further said if the gas had any relation with the explosion, fire would have broken out here. But, no incidence of fire took place here. On Tuesday afternoon, explosion occured inside the basement of a seven-storeyed building at Siddique Bazar adjacent to Fulbaria BRTC bus counter, leaving 19 people dead so far and more than 50 injured.
