DMP bans carrying weapons, fireworks during Tazia procession

In a public notice signed on Sunday (June 23) by DMP Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, the restriction was announced.
The notice states that some individuals participate in Tazia processions carrying items such as knives, daggers, spikes, spears, lances, swords, and sticks, which can create unwanted situations, posing risks to public safety and causing panic among people.
Although the tradition of using fireworks and firecrackers exists during Muharram, the notice says it is not consistent with the religious solemnity of the occasion.
The notice further adds that carrying any weapon-like objects and the use of fireworks and firecrackers will be strictly prohibited from the beginning to the end of the Tazia procession.
