Govt targets cutting business start-up time from 355 days to 14

Online Desk  :  Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir has said the government is working to cut the time required to start a new business from the current 355 days to just 14 days. Speaking as the chief guest at a workshop jointly organised by the Economic Reporters’ Forum (ERF) and SME Foundation on Wednesday, he said a high-level committee has been formed to simplify and accelerate the process of obtaining licences, approvals and importing machinery needed to launch a business.

The minister also added that the government will also ensure that necessary licences, including fire service licences, can be obtained within a shorter time. Khandaker Abdul Muktadir said an uninterrupted energy supply will be provided to restore the business and investment environment, revive private investment and create employment.

He stated that the government has a plan for how an uninterrupted energy supply will be ensured. The minister also said strategic reserves of import-dependent products, including fuel oil and soybean oil, will be ensured.
