Govt cuts LPG prices in line with global market : State Minister

Online Desk : State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Anindya Islam Amit, announced on Friday that the government has reduced LPG cylinder prices in response to changes in the global market. He made the statement after meeting officials of the Rural Electricity Association and Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BAPBIBO) at Jessore Circuit House. Amit explained that 98% of LPG in Bangladesh is imported and relies on the private sector.
“Fuel prices rose due to the Middle East crisis. Whenever global conditions change, we adjust prices. Recently, there was a significant overnight reduction. We will continue to lower prices step by step to make fuel more affordable,” he said.
Regarding the ghostly electricity bill and load shedding, Amit said, “The power department is working to ensure electricity service in this hot summer. There have been various complaints about electricity bills in several places, we have set up complaint centers in each electricity office. We have instructed to contact them and resolve the issue.”
He said that the BNP is the people’s government. The officials of the electricity department have been instructed to be more sincere to ensure the services of the people.
