The Daily Morning Voice Online Desk: No inter-district bus will be allowed to park outside of its own terminal from on April 1 next year, Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam said today. Counters of the transport companies must be set up at their respective terminals from that date, the mayor told reporters following a meeting of the Bus Route Rationalization Committee (BRCC) in Nagar Bhaban today. “Drives will be conducted on the three active routes of Nagar Paribahan buses from December 20 to January 5. Buses and Legunas operating on those routes illegally will face consequences,” the mayor said. Meanwhile, the new route 23 — from Ghatarchar to Kanchpur — which was supposed to start on December 1, will be inaugurated after a month, DSCC Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh told reporters. Two additional routes — 24 and 25 — will be launched on April 1 of next year, the DSCC mayor said. Taposh mentioned that 14,000 people use Nagar Paribahan buses daily to reach their destinations. Mohakhali, Sayedabad, and Gabtoil are the current bus terminals in the capital, mayor Taposh said, adding that process to set up five more terminals at Ghatarchor, Kanchpur, Diabari, Keraniganj’s Baghair, and Savar’s Hemayetpur is underway.
