Online Desk: Film actress Mahiya Mahi was arrested from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday morning in a case filed under the Digital Security Act (DSA). Police arrested her around 11:45 am while she was returning from Saudi Arabia after performing Umrah, said Gazipur Metropolitan Detective Branch deputy commissioner Md Kamal.

Earlier, two cases have been filed against the popular film actress and her husband – on charge of ‘defaming police’ after going live on Facebook and alleged involvement in extortion and assaulting a businessman.

Bason Police Station sub-inspector Rokon Mia filed a case under the DSA against Mahi and her husband Rakib Sarkar, while Ismail Hossain, a businessman, filed the other case on Friday night with the police station against 28 people including the couple on charges of assaulting, vandalism and forcibly occupying land.
