Online Desk: BNP’s Volunteer Affairs Secretary Mir Sharafat Ali Safu was released on parole for six hours on Saturday to attend his elder brother’s Namaz-e-janaza. The Janaja of his elder brother Mir Arshad Ali will be held at Azimpur Chapra Mosque in the capital at 1.30pm on Saturday.
Sapu was released on parole for six hours –from 11am to 5pm — from Kasimpur Central jail and was allowed to attend his brother’s janaza. BNP chairperson’s media wing member Shamsuddin Didar confirmed the information to newsmen. According to family members Arshad Ali, a retired government official, died on Friday noon at BIRDEM hospital while undergoing treatment.
Safu, a former general secretary of Swechchhasebak Dal, was arrested from his from his residence in Shankar of Dhanmondi on February 8 this year. Later, he was shown arrested in a case filed with Hazaribagh Police Station over assaulting police and preventing them from discharging their duties. His name was not mentioned in the case.
On February 16, he was granted bail in the case. But he was shown arrested in an arson case filed with Ramna Police Station. Safu, also former VP of Dhaka College Chhatra Sangsad, was granted bail on March 20 in the case. Safu was shown arrested in the case on March 21, just before his release from jail.
